Top 7 Scariest Animals in the World
13.12.2021While many animals seem safe from a distance, encountering some is dangerous. Animals can be unpredictable for humans aggressive and cruel. Below is a list of the scariest animals in the world. I chose candidates for such characteristics as aggression, destructive power and lethality.
#1 African Buffalo
African buffalo (lat. Syncerus caffer), as well it is black or kaffir buffalo. Despite the fact that the African buffalo can weigh a ton, it can also race at a speed of up to 40 kl. per hour, jump to a height of 2 meters and quickly manoeuvre when faced with predators.
Cape buffaloes are the most powerful buffaloes in Africa. These animals are less than 1.5 m tall, have short legs and are mortal due to their temperament and horns.
When cape buffaloes feel cornered, they become aggressive. In a rage, these animals are able to destroy any obstacles in their path. Cape buffaloes fight fiercely to protect themselves or nearby calves, even if the latter do not belong to their herd.
Cape buffaloes usually live in herds of up to 450 individuals. An interesting fact is that during pasture, Cape buffaloes vote in which direction the herd should move on the next march. When they finish chewing, most animals lie in the direction that they individually decide that the herd should go. When travelling in Africa, if you come across a herd of Cape buffaloes, head in the opposite direction of their migration to avoid colliding with them.
#2 Black rhinos
Black rhino (lat. Diceros bicornis) — its horns (from 2 to 5) are rounded at the base, and for the white rhinoceros horns are trapezoidal. Before you approach a rhinoceros to see the anatomical features of its horns, you should be aware that black rhinos are very unpredictable — combined with their 2 ton body weight, this makes them deadly when encountered.
Like the Cape buffalo, the black rhino uses its massive horns as a weapon for defence. The horns of the black rhinoceros grow up to 10 cm per year, and at the peak of the physical activity of the rhino, the horns reach more than 1.5 m in length. Females use horns to protect their young, males to defend their territory.
Rhino attacks on humans are rare. In fact, fewer than two attacks occur each year, and most of them are not fatal.
#3 Behemoth
Behemoth (lat. Hippopotamus), aka hippopotamus — this giant artiodactyl gracefully swims in the water and can hold its breath underwater for up to five minutes.
Hippos are the third-largest living mammal known for using their weight to flip boats and perform other aggressive attacks on humans. Hippos grow huge teeth, they can reach 50 cm in length. To attack, these animals can run at speeds of up to 30 km per hour.
Hippos are one of the most bloodthirsty and at the same time insidious animals in the world. They have great physical shape, deceiving appearance and an unofficial habit of killing at least one person a day or up to 500 people a year.
#4 Cassowaries
Cazuaries (lat. Casuarius) is a genus of flightless birds, endemic to the rainforests of New Guinea and Australia. These are sprinters, the speed of which can reach 50 km per hour. The cassowary has a "helmet" — a spongy formation on the top of the head covered with keratin.
The cassowary is the second-largest bird on Earth, after the ostrich. Ostriches, chickens and cassowaries are the only birds whose crime of killing a person has been scientifically proven.
Cassowaries use their strong legs as a weapon. First, they use their large beaks to peck at their prey. When, for example, a person falls to the ground, cassowaries jump over him to disorient and attack from different directions.
#5 Wolverine
Wolverine (lat. Gulo gulo) — predatory mammal of the family weasel, an excellent climber who can often be seen resting in the upper levels of evergreen trees.
Although wolverines weigh less than 20 kg, you won't want to fight them. Wolverines hiss terrifyingly, and have their huge claws, which they use with pinpoint accuracy to cut the victim's arteries. And standing on their hind legs, wolverines seem much larger than they really are.
When faced with a wolverine, if you are not afraid of his hiss, claws and frightening appearance, get ready for the fact that this animal will be the first to attack you. With the help of its claws, the wolverine will first bleed you, and then peel off your skin in order to eat the meat along with the bones. As a rule, wolverines do not attack people for no reason. For food, they kill deer, bears and other mammals, 10 times their size.
#6 Belcher's Sea Snake
Poison of the Belcher sea snake (Latin Hydrophis belcheri) is so toxic that its one bite could kill 1,800 people in less than thirty minutes. Belcher's sea snake lives in the Indian Ocean, it is the most dangerous in the world. This snake rarely grows up to 1 m in length, its color — on a yellow background, transverse green stripes are visible.
Scientists believe that Belcher's sea snake can remain underwater for up to 8 hours. If you are bitten by Belcher's sea snake, you only have 30 minutes to take the antidote, or you will die. However, the likelihood of a bite is small, because this snake is rather timid, and therefore rarely attacks first.
#7 Fish-stone
Synanceia verrucosa (lat.), aki a stone fish — sea predatory fish family scorpion fish with poisonous thorns on the back. In nature, it lives at the bottom near coral reefs off the coast of Australia, and mimics a stone. It is considered the most poisonous fish in the world.
The stone fish has 13 spines on its back, each of which carries a venom capable of killing most large animals, including humans. These are the most poisonous fish in the world. Stone fish can survive laid out on land for up to 24 hours. This is how you might encounter rock fish on the beach. This fish is extremely dangerous because it looks like a stone. Only by stepping on the "stone" you will understand that the irreparable has happened.
